He wants pizza again…

Did you know this cussing southern chic went through yoga teacher training? I sure did!

In yoga, we learn how to assist the student in their practice. We breathe with you, support you, help you focus, and stretch you outside your comfort zone.

Assists are gifts.

In life we often misinterpret the assists the world is offering.

We take what other people do and say and turn it around.

We think things like…

– They shouldn't tempt me.

– Do they think I can't do it?

– Why can't they just support me?

Guess what. Sometimes people want to help us in ways that don't make sense. Sometimes people give us diet advice that sucks a big one.

For example…

“Let me pick up pizza. You've worked hard today.”

“I don't think you're losing weight. Try keto.”

That's an assist. I have found after 10+ years helping women lose weight that people are trying to help you. They may not do it the way you want. But that doesn't mean they aren't coming from a good place on the inside.

I know the key to weightloss is pretty simple. We must be willing to see the world in a new way. You are likely overweight because you've seen the world coming AT YOU. I want you to see the world is ASSISTING you. It's not an easy task but it's where true, lasting weight happens.

Imagine if the next time someone offers pizza you don't stress out. Instead, you know that's just someone having your back. Watching out for your stressful day the best way they can. And then you eat a salad because you know that's how you best assist you. THAT'S weightloss. Dropping the mental bullshit.

Take a moment. Right now. Ask yourself, “Where is the world trying to assist me?”

“Where am I willing to start assisting myself?

Last week I attended a practice where I literally laid on my mat for an hour, while the instructor physically opened, stretched, and positioned my body. It was profoundly relaxing and intimate- there’s a certain vulnerability with having an instructor laying across your back. 😉

Assists are such a beautiful gift and what a great metaphor for what teachers are- guides to deepen your experience.

Teaching yoga is so profoundly humbling.

I love the post, it’s a good way to look at things. What are you’re suggestions for dealing with sweet tooths?

Hi, I'm Corinne

I lost 100 pounds and get what it is like to be overweight and feel defeated. I did a complete mental and physical transformation and now I teach women how to do the EXACT same thing. You can get started today with the free course.
