Welcome back, everybody, because today I want to talk to you for a minute if you
happen to be on a GLP1. Or maybe you've started one recently. We're still at the
very beginnings of the year. So I bet a lot of you have gotten on one. Or, you
know, somewhere in the back of your mind that you are on one, but you're not going
to stay on it forever. So I really want to talk about this because for GLP1 users,
and I have many in my group. I will tell all of you right now, I don't give a
shit if you do them or not. I think they're great. I think that they are a
godsend for a lot of people. I didn't use one to lose my weight. But I am not
going to sit here on some pedestal and act like women that want to use one or
need to use one as if something's wrong with you. I say you do you. But here's
what I also know. After working with over a thousand of these women inside my own
program, you still have to work on other things. It's not just as simple as I'm
going to get a shot, lose the weight, and somehow I'm going to know how to keep
it off the rest of my life. For the rest of my life, I'm never going to get
stressed out. I'm never going to want to eat when I'm tired. I'm never going to
want to eat when I'm overwhelmed. I'm never going to eat because I'm tempted, it
doesn't fix all those things. It just doesn't. But I promise you, for a lot of
women,
it does make things a little easier. It turns down the constant chatter of food so
that you are afforded the opportunity to work on all the reasons why you were
eating to begin with. So one of the things that I know is that a lot of women
are really afraid that when they stop taking it,
they're like, but what's going to happen then? And it's nagging at us deep down.
It's like, I remember, even though I wasn't even on a GLP1, I remember having the
same fear. I remember thinking all the time, but what am I going to do when the
diet's over, when I lose all the weight, especially as I was getting closer and
closer to losing, you know, like 100 pounds, there was this deep down fear that I
didn't know if I'd be able to keep it off. And I think the same thing happens
with GOP1 users. This is why I like to say, like, I feel like we're all in it
together. Just whether you do a shot or you do it my way or any other way,
There's not that much different for us. We worry we can't keep our weight off. We
worry that we're going to go back to our old habits. We worry the other shoes
going to drop. We worry that we'll go back to our old ways. And we don't always
say it out loud. I think sometimes we don't want to talk about it because we want
to jinx something, but we know it's there. There's this like underlying anxiety and
palpitation going on underneath us. Because yes, you will love the weight loss.
I remember when I lost my weight. God, I loved it. Oh, my God, I loved it.
I loved looking in the mirror. I couldn't believe it when I could tuck my shirt
in. I remember the first time I went to Target and got a medium top. I remember
the first time I wore a belt. I remember the first time I crossed my legs. I
remember the first time I went on an airplane and didn't need an extender. I
remember all the gloriousness of it. I remember so often the first few months,
amazed when I would walk by a mirror, because I was not used to seeing me. I
just, it was like shocking to see myself small. And when we're losing weight,
especially, we do love the weight loss and we love that food isn't screaming at us
all day. And we love that eating feels calmer and more natural. And I think that
for a lot of GLP1 users, you get that fast. You know,
when I was losing weight, it was slow. But if you're on a GLP1, it's a little
different for you. Because, you know, for a lot of users, some weight loss starts
happening very steady and very quick, and that feels good. suddenly you realize
you're not thinking about food all day long and that feels really good. You notice
that you're calmer around foods that you like, and that feels really good. But we've
also, we've all been there before. If you've ever lost weight before, it's so
similar. So whether you've been on a shot or not, guess what? If you've been there
before, that means that the old fears are coming along for the ride too.
So your brain is going to want to protect you. It's going to want to obsess over
if you can keep this weight off. It's going to want to obsess over whether or not
you will be able to stick to it. And the next thing you know, you have traded all
of the fear around food and all of the food noise and stuff. But now you've got a
whole different noise. You got the noise of worry about what's going to happen when
this is over. And the reason why I want to talk to you about it is because I
work with women who do this, but I just remember going through that myself way back
in the day. I had to work through really solidifying that I was not going to
regain my weight because I had truly changed. It was a process of teaching my new
thin self. Here's why you get to feel safe here because I remember when I first
lost. I mean, y 'all got to remember. This was back 2007. I remember I didn't feel
safe in my new body yet because I thought it could be taken away.
I thought I had failed so many times. It would just happen again. And I didn't
want to spend the rest of my life on guard trying to keep my weight off. I wanted
to spend the rest rest of my life enjoying that I've done it. So if that fear is
there for you, I want you to hear this right now.
This is not negative. It doesn't mean you don't trust yourself. It doesn't mean that
something bad is going to happen. You don't need to avoid it. That fear is there
for a reason. It's just telling you, I need you to help me feel safe.
I don't know how until you teach me how. And that fear also means when you hear
it that you're finally paying attention to yourself. So like I've said, I work with
a lot of women on GLP1s, like a lot of women. And this is one of the most common
conversations we have. It's not like, Corinne,
is it okay that I'm on this? I'm like, I don't care that you're on it. I just
want you getting the help you need. And if this will help you work on the real
reasons why you've been eating all this, all your life, let's do it. But the most
common one I get is, how do I not screw this up like I've done every other time?
So let's talk about it. I want to talk about what's going on because the change
with a gLP one usually isn't the weight at first. It's what happens in your head.
So for a lot of people who go on shots, that food noise gets quieter. It's a
little different than if, like, when I was losing weight. My food noise was there.
And I had to just quickly learn how to talk to myself when I had it.
I had to quickly learn how to tell myself, it's okay that you want to eat right
now.
Of course you want to eat because you're feeling this way. And, you know, I worked
on all of that stuff. So it is possible if you're not on a GLP1 to lose weight,
entirely possible. But when you are on one, you're not thinking about food every
five minutes. You're not constantly negotiating should you have this or shouldn't you
eat this, you're not battling all of your urges in the same way. And for a lot of
women, oh my God, it feels like so much relief. It almost makes you want to cry
because you're like this must be what it's like to be a normal eater,
to not obsess all day long and to not worry and to not just every time something
happens, the first thing you do is you look for food. But here's the part no one
prepares you for. When food gets quieter and it settles down,
all that noise, it doesn't mean your life suddenly got tons better. It doesn't mean
life is easier. For a lot of women, what ends up happening is your life gets
louder and you can't eat. And for some ways, women, that is a real fuck in the
mind. Because it happens to all of us who do my plan.
When we start eating only when we're hungry and when we stop it enough,
we also are quickly learning all the times we want to eat for another reason.
We are now suddenly confronting like, oh my gosh, this is the reality of my live.
I've been eating to get through all this stuff. And now I'm seeing why I've been
eating. I'm seeing the stuff I've been eating over. And when you're on the shots,
it's the same thing.
Now you're just not hungry. And for a lot of my women, they'll say, I can't force
myself to eat. And they feel like ass. They're stressed. The food has been helping
them through that. Food has been helping them cope when they're exhausted. Food's
been helping them numb out when things were overwhelming or unfair. Food is what
helped them keep going when you really had to keep going,
but your body was just done. So when the medication turns the food volume down,
it's not like all that shit disappears. you just don't have your usual way of
dealing with them anymore. And this is something that my GLP1 clients will tell me.
They'll say, Corin, the food's quieter. But oh, my God, I notice how hard my life
actually is now. And it becomes overwhelming. And I've had a lot of women make
themselves eat even when me one was making it really hard to eat.
They override it. My weight loss surgery clients have said the same thing. It's
like, I know eating is going to make me sick. But my life,
I don't know what else to do with my life. Suddenly my life is sitting there. And
the one thing I used to get through, it's gone. And so they just go back to it,
even if it's going to make them miserable physically. And it's the same thing with
my no -b -s clients.
You know,
all I specialize in is helping women solve the real issue when it comes to their
weight. I really believe this. If we don't fix these real issues, you will go back
to eating.
So just know that When food noise is turned it down for you and your life turns
up, you actually can see and hear it now. This doesn't mean that your life's broken
or you're broken or something's wrong. You're just not eating over everything anymore
and you can actually see things. And I just want you to hear this.
That is some real progress, even if it doesn't feel that way in the moment, even
if it feels overwhelming, even it feels like it's too much, it's actually progress.
Because you do need to see those things and you still need to fix them. Now,
this is where the fear of regain will come back in. Because once food isn't doing
as much emotional work for you, your brain starts wondering, well, what if this
medication was the only thing that was really holding everything together. What if I
can't handle my life without eating? What if I just go back to the old me?
You see, that's why it's so important when you are on the GLP1. When you do any
kind of weight loss, but more importantly for GLP1 users, because it can make losing
weight feel so simple is that You need to know you need to work on these things
because the only way to be able to have the ability to have confidence at the end
that you can keep going is to know that you fixed the actual things that got you
to your weight to begin with.
I really want you to hear that. You still have to work on these things. Otherwise,
you're going to end up at the end, not taking the medication anymore, but you've
never taught yourself a new way to deal with all the reasons why you ate before.
And your brain remembers how to handle all of it. Your brain never retires the way
that it's coped with things. And when that pressure comes back and you don't have a
shot that is depressing your appetite, your brain will be like,
we got to fix this. We got an emergency. She's stressed out. She's this. She's
this. What are we supposed to do? Oh, wait. We can now eat. She doesn't have
anything making her not eat. This is really important from all of you to hear.
And I don't care if you're on a GLP 1 or not.
But when you are losing weight, you've got to learn how to handle your stress.
You've got to learn how to talk to yourself in a new and better way. You have to
learn how to deal with guilt. You have to learn how to take care of your body.
You have to learn how to live your life in a new way. Otherwise, when the weight
loss part's over, you will go back because you will not have learned how to do any
of that stuff. And all of not knowing how to do that stuff is what got you here
to begin with. So it's so important. Because when you lose weight,
whether you're on a shot, you've had weight loss surgery, you do it my way. I
don't care what way you do it. The moment the dieting is over, you have to have a
way to prove yourself that there's nothing to worry about. That is the gift I gave
myself. As I lost weight, I was fixing all the things in my life that I ate over.
I was learning how to talk to myself different. I was learning how to be patient.
I was learning how to not catastrophize things. I was learning how to not be an
over -worryer. I was learning how to do thousands and thousands of little mental
things for myself so that the moment that I was getting scared that I might regain
my weight, I could take a deep breath and say like, no, we fixed a lot of things
this time. And it felt very true and it felt very, very real.
And that's what I want for y 'all. I always want that for y 'all because It's
terrible to work so hard to lose your weight and then to regain it because you end
up blaming yourself. And so often, we've lost our weight not fixing the real things.
So I want you to think about this. What are you working on while you are on a
GLP one? What are you doing that's fundamentally changing you? Think about all the
things that before the shot, why did I eat so much? What did I eat over?
Was I a stress eater? Did I get overwhelmed easy? Did I eat because I was like if
I get angry, do I eat to not yell at people? Do I eat just to be eating? All of
those things we've got to work on while you are on that shot so that you know at
the end that this will last because you did the things you needed to do.
And you just need to come off your shot now in a way to where you can slowly but
surely keep eating the way you're eating and also reminding yourself,
I have fixed the things I needed to fix Because that's what we got to do.
I do not want anybody. I don't care if you lose your weight with me or anything
else. Just don't want y 'all stuck in that regain loose cycle over and over again
your entire life. I promise you it's really good on this side. But it takes working
on the right things. So don't let being on a shot fool you into believing that as
long as you eat enough protein, lift weights, that that's going to be good for the
rest of your life? No, ma 'am. There's no one that listens to my podcast that's not
an emotional eater. Pay attention to how you eat right now. Notice,
anytime you're eating more than you need to, what am I eating over? Because if you
really want to lose weight, you really actually want to be healthy, whatever.
I wouldn't be doing this unless there was a damn good reason for it. All right.
Good luck, everybody. I just want us all to be able to do like me. Lose that
weight. Keep it off. It's a dream come true when it happens.
And I don't want the dream to end for you. And I think this is how you do it.
