Quit arguing for your weight loss journey failures.
Do you argue with people about how you aren’t good enough?
Example: “Hey husband. Do you think I can lose weight?”
He says yes. You say “BUT” ..that’s a sure sign you won’t lose weight.
Today I’m helping you see this easy roadblock you can remove.

When trying to lose weight, you can’t just use a food plan someone gave you or count calories. You need to learn how to think your way thin.

You have to decide ahead of time what you want to eat for the day. A food plan given to you by someone else doesn’t help you to think about how you want to lose your weight, what you’re going to want to eat, and what sort of life you want to create for yourself.

Decide to eat in a way that you can eat for life. Don’t take away everything that you love. You are the creator of your plan and can create it with foods you enjoy and foods that have health benefits.

Don’t think beyond the next 24 hours when you make your food plan. Trying to think beyond that can cause you to panic.

Slowly over time you can level up your food choices, but start out with a realistic food plan. Weightloss is not a light switch that automatically comes on, it’s a progression.

Don’t argue for your current weight. Often times people say they want to lose weight and then argue for all the reasons they can’t and how difficult it is. Your brain is too focused on all the things you can’t do.

If you’re always writing in your journal and recounting all the times you’ve been a failure and overate, then you are arguing that you can’t lose weight. Don’t focus on all of your failures. Focus on where you are going.

Our brains are designed to want certainty. Most of us will choose the certainty of failure, rather than choosing uncertainty and creating certainty on how we’ll show up in life. Our brains will automatically sacrifice our dreams and goals if that’s the more certain path. You can override this!

Saying “well, I’ve never really been able to lose weight” is self-defeating and victimizing. You are not going to do that anymore. Victimizing yourself is not sexy or attractive.

Where are the places where you are arguing to stay overweight? Notice how often you’re referring to how things went in the past. Decide who you want to be in the future. Don’t say “well, I want to lose weight, but…” Don’t use “but” anymore. Saying “but” gives your brain the certainty of failure. Your brain doesn’t care if it’s going to work, it just wants certainty.

When things do go wrong, are you going to whine about how you knew it wouldn’t work or are you going to figure it out?

It is easy to argue with people about why you are a failure, but it’s not productive and doesn’t get you where you want to go. What’s hard is deciding on purpose to do new things, to tell yourself new things, to risk feeling good, and to risk making a mistake while still having your own back.

Notice when you argue for your own pain and inability to do something. Then ask yourself “is today the day I’m going to argue for myself?” Learning to argue for yourself is hard. You’ll have to redirect your brain over and over again.

That is why weightloss IS NOT simply counting calories and a food plan. Weightloss IS not being an asshole to yourself and thinking your way thin. Those two things will help you to solve your weightloss problems.

In the long-term, shakes and pills won’t work because you didn’t learn to show up for yourself. You have to show up for yourself every day.
