And on every shelf, you see labels telling you these foods are good for a healthy diet.
The first thing you need to know is that false advertising is common… in fact, it’s everywhere.
And not just that… it’s also illegal.
That’s why I have to shake my head at all of the deceptive labels claiming all sorts of reasons why you should buy it to be part of your healthy diet. But they are lying to you.
I saw several healthy foods that were REALLY for a healthy diet. But I also saw counterfeit versions of these same foods claiming that they were healthier than the original.
But the reality is that these bogus versions were actually MUCH worse for you than the original. And they still have the gall to claim their overly processed ‘junkified’ version is better.
Food marketing deception at its worst!
Example #1: Product claiming “Better than peanut butter”
This product is absurd! Who would ever believe this junk is better for them than natural peanut butter?
If you buy a good simple peanut butter (organic is best), it is usually has only two ingredients… peanuts and salt. And they don’t add much salt, so it’s low in sodium.
However, the counterfeit peanut butter claimed it was ‘better than peanut butter’ had a list of junk in it you wouldn’t believe.
First they strip all of the healthy fats out of the peanuts so that it is ‘low fat’. One of the healthiest parts of the product is gone. Healthy fats satisfy your appetite. They control cravings and manage more stable blood sugar levels.
Then the healthy fats were replaced with two different types of sugary syrups as well as additional dehydrated cane juice (aka SUGAR), in addition to added refined starches.
This product has taken something as simple and natural as peanut butter, and turned it into processed candy. Yet, they claim (don’t cha know) it’s healthier than peanut butter. I’m completely mystified how they get away with this. Don’t be fooled!
Example #2: Product claiming to be “better than eggs”
Basically, this product is just egg whites with a on of added chemical colorings, flavorings and other nonsense added (like fake vitamins.)
Again, another product ruined by removing the healthiest part… in this case, the YOLKS!
And yes, the yolk is the healthiest part of the egg. Anybody that tells you different doesn’t understand true nutrition. The important thing to look for in quality whole eggs is ‘cage-free’ and ‘organic.’

Example #3: Product claiming to be “better than butter”
This is the ridiculous (and deadly) example yet. It’s essentially crappy margarine loaded with highly processed and deadly trans fats. Yet, it claims that it’s “better than butter”.
Hell NO! No healthy diet would have this crap in it!
Even low quality butter is healthier than any margarine. One problem with butter is pesticides and hormones from improperly raised cows.
That’s why you always want to choose organic butter. Did you know that adding a little butter to your steamed vegetables helps your body to absorb more of the vitamins and minerals in the veggies? It’s true.
Also, due to the content of stable saturated fats in butter, this makes butter one of the best oils to cook with. Oils high in polyunsaturated oils are the worst to cook with because of their highly unstable nature.

And no, the saturated fat in butter is NOT bad for you.
Don’t be fooled by slick advertising and wild promises. Maintain your healthy diet WITHOUT the bogus ‘healthy foods.’
